Changes to ArcGIS Portal Feature Service Writer in FME 2022?

I have a workbench I'm updating from 2021.2 to 2022.1. It reads in features and then following the general flow from this article (https://community.safe.com/s/article/how-do-i-write-updates-to-an-existing-arcgis-onlin) does the change detection and then updates the portal service. In 2022.1 I'm running into an error though where when it starts writing the updates I get" ArcGIS Portal Feature Service Writer: Could not find a layer/table matching feature type 'ParcelTest_DBO_DelTest'". I've used the GUI to select the item from the portal, the only difference I can see is the '_' instead of the '.' in the service name. I can't change this though. In 2021.2 the writer has the '.' in the name. I can click on the url of the ArcGIS Portal Feature Service Writer: Requesting metadata for Feature Service at 'https://xxx.xxx.xxx/server/rest/services/ParcelTest_DBO_DelTest/FeatureServer' message and it opens the rest endpoint

Hi @Andrew Baumgartner! I'm sorry you're experiencing this. Have you tried adding a new ArcGIS Portal Feature Service Writer in a new workspace in 2022.1, or are you updating the one from 2021.2? I see that there were updates made to this writer in 2022.1. Could you please share screenshots comparing the 2021.2 writer parameters you were using vs. the 2022.1 parameters, that also highlight where you're seeing the "_" and "." in the Service name? Providing the full logfile might also help. Thanks!

Hi @nampreetatsafe  thanks for getting back to me. I actually created everything in this workflow using the 2022.1 reader/writers and transformers just following the older as guide. I'm attaching some screenshots showing the 2022 vs 2021 as well as a log file

Hi @Andrew Baumgartner sorry for the delayed response! This is a bug, we will update this thread when this is supported in a new version of FME (internal ticket FMEENGINE-75670) please use your previous version of FME in the meantime. I believe the latest supported version should be 2022.0

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi @Evie Lapalme ,

Any update on this issue ? I am facing it with 2022.1.0.

Is the following fix in 2022.2.2 related to ArcGIS Portal Feature Service supposed to fix this issue ?

------------------------------

FME 2022.2.2.0 b22778 20221209

------------------------------

[Fix] ArcGIS Portal Feature Service: Should access feature services "created from URL(public)"

(cf. https://downloads.safe.com/fme/2022/whatsnew_2022_2_3.txt)

Thanks

Hi @biboba unfortunately, it looks like the version this is fixed for is 2023.0 b23196 therefore our options are to use either the 2022.0 version or the 2023.0 beta at this time. Sorry for the inconvenience 😔

@Evie Lapalme do you know if this is also a bug in 2020.1? I'm experiencing the same issues, however, the data writes, but with all NULL values.

Hi @brittzucchetto this sounds like a slightly different issue. Is your data shared within a group? It might be related to a Known Issue outlined in this article: https://community.safe.com/s/article/workarounds-to-known-issues-in-fme-2020x

That article also provides a workaround as well. However, since the release of FME 2023 we are no longer supporting FME 2020. I would suggest upgrading to the latest possible version you are able to to that we are able to support you.

Happy FMEing :)
