Question

"Error running translation" at the first process of the translation.

Whenever I run the workspaces, it ends up with "Error running translation" at the first process of the translation. This occurs in all workspace files including official training files or most simple translation such as xls to csv.

My work environment is MacOS Monterey (MacBook Pro 14 inch M1 Pro). And there are no problems if I run the same translation on Windows PC.

In the Navigator window is a setting for workbench how to react on "Rejected" features.

Workspace Parameters --> Translation --> Rejected Feature Handling.

This is "Terminate Translation" by default. Maybe you have set this to "Continue Translation" on the Windows machine but not on the Mac?

If this is not the issue you can always submit a case.

Thank you for the comment. I have changed the parameter to "Continue Translation" but it didn't work...

The training data that you can download assumes that you've unzipped it in C:\\, which is of course not an option on Mac, it may be that that's what's happening here. You'll need to make sure all the paths referenced in the workspace (so readers and writers but potentially also FeatureReaders) point to the correct locations.

FME Academy content has partially circumvented this by simply reading all source data from an online source, but we've already found that some IT departments block that.

Hi @kensnzk ,

What is the exact version of FME you are running?

Can you please confirm that you are running FME 2021.2 or newer.

There is a known issue with running older versions of FME on macOS Monterey that we fixed for FME 2021.2. Please see this article for more details: https://community.safe.com/s/article/Known-Issue-FME-fails-to-run-on-macOS-Monterey

Thanks for confirming the version of FME you are using, @kensnzk.

You'll need to upgrade to FME 2021.2 or newer if you're working on macOS Monterey, you can find the latest version from our website here: https://www.safe.com/support/downloads/

I ran into this same issue. I was taking the class and installed with the free trial offered here: https://www.safe.com/fme/fme-desktop/.

I clicked the [Start Free Trial] button an it installed the 2021.0.3.0 version. I believe it was a 30-day trial.

Following andreaatsafe's instructions, I've updated to the 2021.2 version and this time, running the exercised executed as expected. But my trial is now only 8 days. Can anything be done about that?

Hi @jbuchanan ,

You should receive an email that will have a link to activate your full 30-day trial.
