Hello FME'ers

Here's your weekly round-up of FME news, and there is a lot of content this week!

FME2021.2 Release

You'll have noticed that FME2021.2 was released yesterday.

WUW3Nov-1

What's new in that version? Well, we have a newly added CKAN reader/writer. Because it's delivered as a package this isn't totally new. It was added to the hub in August I think, and can even be used with older FME versions. But it's new enough to count!

What's definitely new is a reader/writer for Esri Knowledge Graph. I know very little, so luckily we have a full tutorial on what the format is and how to use it.

WUW3Nov-2

FME 2021.2 also has the usual amount of bug fixes - remember the What's New changelog is your friend there - and for FME Server a revamped Geometry Picker.

WUW3Nov-3

I believe the new part is the menubar at the top, a search tool, and you can now also change the background map to another provider.

On a related note:

  • The GeoCoder transformer was removed from FME in 2021.2 and replaced with a package on the FME Hub.
  • Speaking of the hub, its test engines have also been updated to 2021.2
  • If you want to stick with 2021.1 then keep a look out for 2021.1.4, which will release shortly. It's just getting a final fix so it works with the latest macOS (Monterey). The same fix should already be in 2021.2 (b21784).

So go download FME2021.2 and enjoy!

Making Connections

In case you missed it, the community activity for November is a postcard exchange. Just a bit of fun and a way to make new contacts within the FME world.

You can find out more information in this announcement article.

Blogs, Webinars, and Other Events

What with it being GIS month, there is a lot happening in the world of spatial.

Deprecated Format Alert

As an fyi, the Tableau TDE reader/writer is planned to be deprecated, starting in FME 2022. This format has been superseded by the Tableau Hyper format and so, if you haven't switched yet, you should plan to do so shortly.

Jobs at Safe

Safe is hiring. We're looking for developers, account managers, technical support specialists, system administrators, quality analysts, and probably more:

Technical Support Specialist must be the most important role because it's listed twice! Anyway, if you - or someone you know - might be suitable for one of these roles, check out our web page.
