Hi All,

I have kinda finished testing fme 2014 sp2 and agreed to release it to our relevant users.

I did encounter something though concerning the feature reader.

I have a excell with amongstother things columns wich names consist of a date string like 1-1-2013.

In 2013 i explode the list produced by the feature reader  and use the content to create 201301.

This is used to execute operations on all the monthly the columns on the different tabs (wich are years).

Works like a charm...in fme2013SP2.

Fme2014Sp2 on the other hand says its a varchar (as does 2013) but reads the content as a number so 1-1-2013 becomes 41365. This is the Excell date numbervalue, not the actual cellcontent.

Of course i can do it differently...or i could use datecalculation to extract day/month/year; no need to point that out to me. I am just wondering is this intended?

Wil it now always return a datevalue in such cases?
