Writing nested blocks in AutoCAD

is there a way (and how) to write block inside a block in AutoCAD Writer?

Hi @zzupljanin,

While FME can create blocks from aggregates (i.e. multiple geometries/blocks), I don't believe it will be able to create a nested block and retain the original block reference. As a result, if you modify the child block that is also referenced in the nested block the changes may not transfer to the nested block like they would if the nested block was created in AutoCAD.

So... if you don't plan on modifying the child block reference then you could create an aggregate of both block's then specify a value for the autocad_block_name format attribute to create a new block reference.

Would love to hear if others have done this before!
