Question

Transform a 2D autocad file (dwg) to CityGML

Hello,

I am trying to create a workflow in order to transform a dwg to a cityGML file and later to import it into a 3D citygml database.

I have tried to find an example online doing something similar but I had no luck.

I wanted to ask if something like this is possible with FME and if there is an available example to get a first impression of how to implement it.

Thanks.

Hi there,

Did you see this article already?

https://knowledge.safe.com/articles/Samples_and_Demos/BIM-to-GIS-IFC-Building-to-CityGML-Basic

You will need 3D Geometry, so this article will also help you:

So if I understand correctly what I have to do is transform my 2D dwg file to IFC (spaces) like here: https://knowledge.safe.com/articles/How_To/AutoCAD-to-IFC-Conversion-Example And then use the workflow described in the link you send me in order to transform the IFC to cityGML. Does the above makes logic? Or the middle step of "transforming the 2d dwg to IFC" is an overkill and I can by pass it?
