Hello!

I am curious about the way you store workbenches in your companies. the number of workbenches we use is constantly growing (including both desktop and server workspaces) and I wonder how to store them properly being able to find the reuqired one in prompt and effective way. I was thinking of some kind of register and ability to read .fmw by an fme workspace (to read workspace properties like name, category, description, keywords etc). Any piece of advice is appreciated,

Cheers!

Hi,

we use Subversion (https://subversion.apache.org/) and/or GIT (http://git-scm.com/) (or GITHub (https://github.com/), depending) version tracking to organize workspaces and to track changes to them. Works very well, highly recommended.

You could also use FME Server as an official repository of workbenches, from which the users can download the latest version onto their desktop.

Thanks for your suggestions David. Yes, we use currently FME Server as storage for latest workbenches. But we probably do need some register to see what's in there as well... I will deep into the options you suggested, thanks a lot!
