When using AppearanceSetter you can for instance drape an ortophoto on top of a terrain modell. However it seems the texture gets scaled down to a lower resolution. What is the maximum raster pixel*pixel allowed for a single surface? Is it possible to increas this to get a more detailed model?

Are there also some limitations when writing this surface with texture to formats like Sketchup 3ds etc?

Hi @sigtill,

FME itself has no limitations on texture image sizes, and will subsample the image when writing only to meet the restrictions of the output format.

The Data Inspector does seem to subsample when displaying, but it is intended as a light-weight viewer rather than a proper renderer.

I found the issue to be that the Sketchup writer didnt seem to have more detail - however there is also a setting in the Sketchup software that needs to be turned on to make the texture high-res - once that was turned on the Skp-file was great!
