FME 2015.1 Desktop won't run on Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon

FME 2015.1.3 Desktop Workbench does not run on Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon 64-bit (Cinnamon-Version 3.6.7).

When I do /opt/fme-desktop-2015/fmeworkbench -v, the little FME Desktop startup popup appears, but the startup fails when opening the application window, and the terminal says:

/opt/fme-desktop-2015/fmeworkbench

 

OpenGL Warning: glXChooseVisual: bad attrib=0x186a0, ignoring

 

OpenGL Warning: glXChooseVisual: bad attrib=0x186a1, ignoring

 

OpenGL Warning: glXChooseVisual: bad attrib=0x186a0, ignoring

 

OpenGL Warning: glXChooseVisual: bad attrib=0x186a1, ignoring

 

OpenGL Warning: vboxCall failed with VBox status code VERR_BUFFER_OVERFLOW

 

Segmentation fault

The syslog says:

kernel: [ 2859.882088] traps: fmeworkbench[3913] general protection ip:7fb2885ce2f0 sp:fa59ed490f772252 error:0 in libc-2.23.so[7fb288599000+1c0000]

FME 2017.1 Desktop Workbench however runs perfectly on the very same machine.

Can somebody reproduce this, or can somebody give any hints?

I don't think we have tried to implement FME Desktop on Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon 64-bit (Cinnamon-Version 3.6.7). Our technical specifications are here: https://www.safe.com/fme/tech-specs/

You might want to try a more recent version of FME (2018) just to test whether this is able to run on this flavor of Linux.
