Question

How to write a TIN Surface (Reading a LAS file -> TINGenerator) to IFC valid file?

Hi Guys,

I've trying to write a LAS file (Creating a TIN surface with TIN Generator) to IFC file. The final purpose is add this TIN surface to a BIM Platform. I've tried, but I dont get it.

I appreciate any help.

Cheers!

Hi @cainostroza,

IfcSite would likely be the best feature type to write the TIN to.

Please try the attached workspace.

@DaveAtSafe thanks for this example, I'm trying around a bit with FME since last week, especially to figure how to transform TIN into *.ifc. Checking the forum I also found this this workspace of yours: https://knowledge.safe.com/articles/1310/how-to-clip-tin-surfaces.html

So my question is, to clip the TIN to final area, is it better to replace the TINGenerator here in this workspace with all objects from the other workspace?

Cheers,

Tobias

Hi @tkohoutek,

I think that will work OK.

This is wonderful, I'm brand new to FME and was wondering if anyone knew how to crop the TIN using a shapefile before export?
