When I upload a file with sidecar files, this triggers the directory watch to start a workspace for each file which I don't want and uses up my engines.
It'd be great to have the option to add file type filters so that the workspace is only started if I upload a *.shp for example.

Hello FMELizard,

I need this trick escpecially for shapefile. Indeed, for a shapefile, with .dbf .shp ... files, the trigger starts 6 times whereas only once would be enough (for .shp).

We have introduced this feature for FME Server Automations – there is an additional "Filter" action that can be linked to any Trigger or Source (i.e. Publication), for example Directory Watch.

Configuring the parameters allows you to only continue your workflow on the ".shp" extension, as shown in the screenshot below:

Please note that this feature is currently included with the beta version of FME Server and its functionality and appearance are subject to change as the product continues to evolve before the official release.

Should this feature or its implementation not address your concerns, related to this Idea posting, please let us know by leaving a comment.

As with all beta features and beta versions of our software, they are not considered production-safe and should be incorporated into your workflows with consideration and testing.
