12 Days of FME 2025 Contest (the “Contest”)
Eligibility:
To be eligible for this Contest, a contestant must be over the age of majority within their jurisdiction of residence at the time of entry. Contestants in jurisdictions where these types of contests are prohibited by law, or where a license is required, are not eligible. Employees of Safe Software Inc. ("Safe") and their household members are not eligible to participate in the Contest.
Contest Period:
The “Contest Period” begins on Wednesday, November 26 at 8:30 a.m. Pacific Time and ends on Friday, December 12 at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Entries received after the close of the Contest Period will not be eligible.
How to Enter and Play:
- Login to your FME Community account or sign up for a free FME Account if you’re not yet a registered user.
- Visit the 12 Days of FME contest page when it goes live on November 26 at 8:30 am PST and start solving puzzles.
- Start placing flags on the community map where you believe Greenbeard’s treasure is hidden. “Treasure” means the hidden location selected by Safe for this Contest (the “Treasure Location”). The Treasure Location will remain secret until the Contest Period ends and will be used to determine which participants’ flags are placed closest to or furthest from it. The closer your flag lands to the Treasure Location, the better your chances are to win a prize.
- Each participant may make up to twelve (12) guesses - one (1) guess per day - and may earn bonus guesses by completing specified activities.
- Bonus guesses can be earned by completing optional, contest-related activities announced throughout the Contest Period. These may include: (a) completing specific puzzles or challenge sets; (b) participating in community discussions or polls; or (c) sharing or engaging with Safe’s 12 days of FME posts. Details on how to earn bonus guesses will be provided on the contest homepage and in community updates. All bonus guesses must be earned within the Contest Period and are subject to verification by Safe. Bonus guesses have no cash value and cannot be transferred between participants.
- You may guess randomly or solve puzzles to gain clues that help pinpoint the Treasure Location.
- Clues are organized into four (4) puzzle sets with five (5) levels each, offering progressively more precise hints (from continent-level to exact coordinates).
- Solving puzzles isn’t required. Anyone can play. The more clues you solve, the closer your guesses can get to the Treasure Location. Even partial solutions can give you a strong hint toward the right location.
- Track progress on a generalized map and scoreboard, showing areas where most guesses are clustered without revealing participant identities.
- Compete for secondary prizes, like solving the most puzzles, or even having the furthest guess from the Treasure Location.
- Engage with other players in the dedicated 12 Days of FME thread on the FME Community forums.
No purchase or payment is necessary to enter or win.
Entries are limited to one (1) entry per individual. Do not sign up for multiple FME Community accounts in order to register multiple times.
Prizes Available:
There are a total of five (5) prizes awarded as follows:
- One (1) prize, a large Stump Craft or Heye puzzle (valued at up to CAD$200), will be awarded to the contestant whose flag lands closest to the treasure, at the end of the Contest Period.
- One (1) prize, a large Stump Craft or Heye puzzle (valued at up to CAD$200), will be awarded to the contestant whose flag lands second closest to the treasure, at the end of the Contest Period.
- One (1) prize, a large Stump Craft or Heye puzzle (valued at up to CAD$200), will be awarded to the contestant whose flag lands third closest to the treasure, at the end of the Contest Period.
- One (1) prize, an FME swag pack (valued at approximately USD$50), will be awarded to the contestant who has the “worst guess” defined as the flag placed the greatest measured distance from the Treasure Location.
- One (1) prize, an FME hoodie (valued at approximately USD$50), will be awarded to the contestant who solves the most puzzles at the end of the Contest Period.
All prizes must be accepted as awarded and are not transferable or convertible to cash. In the event that Safe is unable to award a prize as described, Safe reserves the right to award a replacement prize of equivalent value in its sole discretion.
Only one (1) prize may be awarded to each contestant.
Criteria for Winning:
At the end of the Contest Period, Safe will evaluate eligible entries using the following criteria:
- Closest, Second Closest, and Third Closest Guesses: Determined by measuring the straight-line distance between each participant’s final flag placement and the Treasure Location, as recorded by Safe’s contest platform. Prizes will be awarded to the three (3) participants whose flags are placed at the smallest measured distances.
- “Worst Guess” Prize: Awarded to the participant whose flag is placed the greatest measured distance from the Treasure Location.
- Most Puzzles Solved: Awarded to the participant who successfully completes the highest number of puzzles during the Contest Period, as determined and verified by Safe’s internal tracking system.
Odds:
The odds of winning a prize depend on the total number and timing of eligible entries received during the Contest Period.
General Rules:
Selected contestants will be notified by direct message via the email address associated with their FME Account by no later than Monday, December 16, 2025 and must respond within five (5) business days of such notification to receive a prize. If a selected contestant does not respond within this time frame, they may be disqualified and Safe may, in its sole discretion, select another contestant. Safe is not responsible for the failure of a contestant to receive notification, or for our failure to receive a contestant’s response, for any reason whatsoever.
Before being declared a winner, each selected contestant may be required to sign a standard Release Agreement and Canadian contestants may be required to correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited, mathematical, skill-testing question.
Allow 4-6 weeks for shipment of the prize after verification of your address and contact information. Safe is not responsible for any change of email address, mailing address and/or telephone number of any contestant.
Safe assumes no responsibility for lost entries, for failure to receive notice of entries, for any failure of the website or platform during the Contest Period, for any problems or technical malfunction of any network or telephone lines, computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof.
In the event of a dispute as to who submitted an entry, the entry shall be deemed submitted by the “authorized account holder" of the FME Account or the email address used to enter the Contest. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g. business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. A contestant may be requested to provide us with proof that they are the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the potentially winning entry.
By entering this Contest, each contestant expressly consents to Safe, its agents and/or representatives, storing, sharing and using the personal information submitted with their entry for the purpose of administering the Contest and in accordance with Safe’s Privacy Policy. All personal and other information requested by and supplied to Safe for the purpose of the Contest must be truthful, complete, accurate, and in no way misleading. Safe reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any contestant who supplies untruthful, incomplete, inaccurate or misleading information.
By entering the Contest, you agree to abide by the Contest Rules and the decisions of Safe, which are final.
Anyone who creates multiple FME Accounts to enter the Contest may be disqualified.
By accepting a prize, you agree that Safe can use your name, voice, and/or photograph in any publicity or advertising related to the Contest carried out by Safe without further remuneration, except where required by law.
No more than the stated number of prizes shall be awarded. If, due to an error, there are more claims for prizes than prizes available, then Safe reserves the right to award the prizes through a random drawing of eligible prize claims.
Safe reserves the right to suspend, cancel or modify the Contest at any time if Safe determines that, for any reason, the Contest cannot be run as originally planned or if there is any other occurrence compromising the fairness or integrity of the Contest.
The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, provincial and municipal laws. Void wherever prohibited by law or in jurisdictions that require a license to hold such contests.
